Motherfucker, what the hell happened? I just checked this thing a few hours ago and it was all fine. Dammit, this is why I don't use these things more often. I'll have to wait until the morning since it's 2am here.

EDIT: Fixed already because I'm too tr00 for sleep. This Message Edited On 11.25.05

Quotes have gone screwy again.

Right, so first, second and third listens to A Celebration Of Guilt got a big thumbs down from me. Fourth listen = awesome. I have no idea why. It's just good, melodic, yet headbangingly heavy metal. I still wouldn't call them incredibly original, though. Original is like Opeth, like the Mars Volta or like Pelican. Maybe there's so little room for variation in modern metal that even little things can herald a huge change in originality. Who knows. A Celebration Of Guilt is killer, though.

This sounds even cleaner than A Celebration of Guilt. If you love that you'll love this. The only downside is it's so short.

I think these guys are as original as it comes for the melodic death genre. Insomnium is some great progressive melodic death too, but not quite as heavy or technical as Arsis.

Finally got a hold of A Diamond for Disease (the song). Now THAT'S original metal. Very cool.

I hear rumors that at one point in the title track there are multiple guitar solos running at the same time. Fact or fiction?

Have you seriously listened to Arsis? They have multiple solos running in virtually every song they've ever written.

Duh, of course I have listened to Arsis. I adore the first album. I just heard that the solo section in the title track was really crazy and ran many different guitar parts at the same time; even more than before.

Jeez, quit being such a jerk, man.

Jim layered dozens of guitar tracks in the title track. I think at times there are at least six, four of which are playing harmonized solos.

sorry

I rather like his vocals, as they are a mix of black and death metal screams. When I imagine how melodic death metal screams should sound, Arsis comes to mind.

Just about every review I have ever read says that they are melo-death, and they're probably right. They also have elements of black metal and technical metal, though.
