"Also, the tracks on Strawberry Jam are stylistically similar... at points." At points being the keyword. Go ahead, have unifying themes. Make a cohesive work but come on diversity is a key element to music like this otherwise it sounds wish-washy for long periods of time and/or tires quickly.

"How is Lion in A Coma 'heartless' and 'pathetic'?" By trying to be innovative, the band sounds ridiculously unrealistic, with layer upon layer of disparate elements that make it sound as though all they're trying to do is to be quirky instead of portraying something driven by pathos or even the deep "spirituality" that others connect with this record.

i can only work with what you're giving me, bare bones or not, so i'm gonna take that "probably" as you agreeing with me, as that quote was what my entire post was getting at.

you've misunderstood that last quote as well, i'm saying the term "unnecessary indie wank" means nothing, not whatever you were referring to with it.

Oh man I just loled. That was perfect timing.

Well this album just sounds uninspired throughout. Just layer upon layer of random sounds that all

mesh into one big disoriented swirl of brown rather than the concise spectacle of rainbow colors as

most claim it to be. The songs aren't even that fun/memorable anyway.

@Doug: Nah. I used it to say "HELL YES" and agree with your rating.

I think this album is an easy target for hate because it was so highly lauded by multiple publications and sources. There really isn't much of a middle ground it seems with liking this one, but i would take a polarizing album over an above average 'by-the-books' one. However, the Fall Be Kind EP trumps this by far in my mind.
