This is pretty sweet. It really does sound like a Radiohead/Porcupine Tree combo. The second half has some good shit.

First 2 tracks, Preparation for Meltdown and last 2 tracks are da baist.

Barely Breathing is also an amazing song, but as you can prolly tell by my rating, I love everything here.

I can't tell why more people don't 4.5 this :/

Haha of course. There were parts that wowed me but as a whole it didn't really. The second half was more consistent. Though preparation for meltdown was fucking awesome.

@Mongi Concentrate on the drums in track 1, they're brilliant. I dunno what you thought of Barely Breathing but if you listen to that track while relaxed and with 100% concentration, it brings the feeeels.

Also surely So We Row blew your mind? It's an insane closer

@jm Fucking YES it is.

I don't get wrapped in the "why listen to this band when I could listen to that band" mentality though. Good music is good music to me.

My dad actually told me to check genesis the other day so I'll check them after christmas.

I've never seen the Porcupine Tree similarities, especially with this album and Bruce Soord didn't even know what Porcupine Tree was when he started making music

And I listen to modern and classic prog bands for different reasons because there's so much difference between them. That's the whole point of prog, so why call new bands 'rip offs'?

More radiohead like than PT imo but I can here some similarities even if they weren't intentional.

KILL tbh our tastes are almost completely different so I may not like it as much as you do. I'll prob

love it, but I'm not promising anything ya know?

You should definitely check Genesis - Selling England By The Pound, it will completely expand your tastes, especially since you're a Pink Floyd fan.

The other obvious ones are Camel - Mirage, Yes - Close to the Edge and Rush - Hemispheres.

I'd also recommend Hawkwind, one of my favourite bands and the fathers of space rock

And don't forget to get on those other recs I sent you!

I'm not rushing you, I take a long time to hear and rate stuff too - TPT are one of my favourite bands but I haven't heard their first 4 albums.

You got any recs for me?

Hmm you enjoy post rock? Either way try out God is an Astronaut- All is Violent, All is Bright. Stunning album. Some various stuff: 10 Years- The Autumn Effect, Rishloo- Eidolon, Porcupine Tree- Signify, Black Light Burns- Cruel Melody, Sigur Ros- (). All great stuff.

Post rock is iffy for me but I do need to explore it more so I'll try and listen to all those. I've heard that Rishloo album before but it's definitely worth another try

That GIAA album is extremely accessible post rock but literally every song is so beautiful. If you want, check out Suicide By Star to give yourself a good impression of it. Such an ominous, brooding song.
