Well shrooms are very... tricky things, all depends on the atmosphere and mood. I'd suggest acid before you try shrooms, but if you do shrooms just make sure you are in a comfortable place. From my experiences, shrooms can be very intense and overwhelming so you try to fit the mood but acid is just a blissed out sensory overload, you basically just wanna listen to music the entire time, anything that you would find mindblowing in that state. But well, music is amazing on both, with shrooms you gotta wait till you reach the top of the mountain to see how you feel then.

Just don't do too much, my first trip was with shrooms and I took too much and it spooked my out with psychedelic's for a while, I'd do em but was always afraid of taking too much again, although it never happened. I don't know how I tripped so fucking hard though, it was only a half cut and I've eaten full cuts since.
Sorry if that's a mouth full, just trying to help you have a good trip where you get to explore music in a way you could never have imagined, instead of curling up on the couch losing your mind.

I've heard too many horror stories of people doing that on shrooms. Funny, most people have told me that I should start with shrooms rather than acid, but based on conversations i've had here I might just do the opposite.
how much shrooms should I take on a first dosage though? In all likelihood I'll probably end up doing them first.

Buy a cut, or half cut if you can. Take most of the half cut, wait till you feel the effects start kicking in(no more than 45-60 minutes) then decide if you wanna take the rest(or more if you have a full cut). No batch of shrooms is the same unless it's the same grower. Maybe I just had some really strong shrooms my first time and didn't know it, seriously it was out of this world. Don't get me wrong I love shrooms but they always have their tense moments. I suggest having a buddy to trip with you or atleast be there, because you'll likely need someone to talk to, it's part of the experience, I've always preferred tripping with close friends than alone. Just make sure you have everything you'll need for the trip at close head, especially the music(computers become the most awkward devices to manage tripping). Water, food, places to go(especially outside), should be a close reach.
