To Walk a Middle Course is the serious contender for the best. Static Tensions is good because of the amalgamation of progression and admittedly heaviness but yeah, band rule.

I'd say Middle Course - Spiral Shadow is as good a run as a sludge band could hope to have. Ultraviolet is quite underappreciated too.

Middle Course is great yeah. Haven't listened to it in a long time though.
I'm more partial to early Kylesa as opposed to the Spiral Shadow-and-on era of the band. Probably has to do with the fact that this album for instance still has that "backwoods shack" vibe going on.
