It's a great album from the best prog band. An album that is unique in their catalogue and in fact in the entire rock era. A few minor flaws that are not worth mentioning. And Peter sounds fantastic. But you have to understand the music. Complaining about the lack of dynamic range or electric guitar is like complaining about the lack of color in a black& white movie. If you don't get it, don't comment. The artist worked within the limitations of technology or even purposely created some limitations to enhance the artistic effect. It's what Genesis did.

This is so underrated, I like it more than Nursery Cryme as a whole. Love the airy atmosphere and The Knife slays hard enough that I don't mind the general lightness.

Most of the bands unique qualities are already present here. Makes a lot of their more popular work seem less essential.

I don't think so since those unique qualities are way more polished in their more popular prog albums

Sometimes, but I dont think they would ever match this in terms of creativity, and the level of folk in their music was sadly reduced after this :[. Gabriels theatrics would certainly get more extreme though.

There is certainly more in here than just The Knife but I think that, besides that song, the band's sound is still a little bit immature

Exactly, the atmosphere is ominous and the muddy production adds to it.

Very underappreciated album. The Knife is killer
