I'm glad my name isn't Andrew, because that would just be embarrassing anyway. j/k, j/k
So this album is officially their best album, yards ahead of Rated R in both rocking harder and having fewer low points. Also, I'm a sucker for albums that are or feel like concept records, and this one qualifies. Man alive is this fun to listen to.

You're so wrong. This has some of their highest highs, but also some of their very lowest lows.

Name these so-called "lowest lows", and we shall have gainful discussion!

Josh Homme needs to have his fucking head smashed through a wall for the production.
God damn, this is a real fucking horrible, hypercompressed production. It makes Jazz look hi-fi. And Dave Grohl can't muster any of his innate Powah because of it.

Straight up awesome cd.

I think this is a good album. I haven't heard the one before it, but this is miles ahead of their new album.

I never really understood the "stoner metal" tag for these guys.

Rated R has more stoner influences
and the lead singer/frontman Josh Hommes was also the lead guitarist of the band Kyuss...which was one of the first stoner metal bands.

Don't think I've listened to Kyuss before. I gotta check them out. Any reccommendations?

Does Mark Lanegan play guitar? I thought Troy van Luween did

Albums great, too bad its inconsistent

the production quality is meant to be gritty. it's much better than era Vulgaris as far as that goes...I disagree with the inconsistency part though. If anything, this album isn't different enough. The guitar tone doesn't vary a whole lot between the songs.
That being said, some of the riffs in here are amazing... like "No One Knows" "Hanging tree" and Mosquito song"
which is the most unique and in my opinion, best song on the album. this is the best way to get into QOTSA... buy the album

I like a lot of songs of this album, but I also HATE a few.

I really like this album, but it's "great" in a 3.5 sense I'd say, there's nothing amazing here, just really good rock tbh. the opening track is very awesome though.
