Good review, although I completely disagree with you on Soilwork being mallcore and all that shit. Yes, they took on a more mainstream direction, but the talent was always there, Figure Number Five was a solid album, and calling them mallcore implies that they have a generic quality, which is not true. They are the only melodeath band I know to mix melodeath with blues elements and, on this album, bluegrass.

if its as good as The Chainheart Machine or Predator's Portrait (which I doubt), then I will be surprised in the best way possible.

it's not. but it's better than Figure Number Five or Sworn to a Great Divide, and probably about equal to Stabbing the Drama.

I don’t really like you review. Most of the time, you’re focusing of how “true metal” that album is, instead of how good it actually is.

Growls instead of screams, so troo
Blast beats, so troo
Guitar solo shredding, so troo

What matters isn’t if the use these points, but HOW they use it. A well placed scream can be way better than a misplaced growl, but you seem to think that “because it’s a scream, it sucks”. Same goes for drums and guitar.
(I’m with you for the song structure, it’s a “quality” and not a “style” question. Even if it doesn’t matter “that much” to me, it’s definitely a pos)

I actually liked figure number five, the heavy use of synths is actually what made it interesting and original. I understand that if you’re really into melodeath it is a really disappointing album, but if you listen from a more open point of vue, it’s a really strong album (apart of the lazy song structure)

My only complaint about this review would have to be that if you were going to talk about Peter Wichers returning, you might have mentioned that he had been working as a full-time producer and how that would have influenced the new sound.

"Lol @ saying a band sucks and then rating four of the albums 3.5 or higher. OH, and the review is absolute shit"

That's what "objectivity" is, buckfutter. If I were comparing Soilwork to true melodic death metal artists, I'd have to give most of the albums 1. They are doing weak shit, but they're doing their weak shit quite well, hence my grades of their albums.

And about the review - I was compelled to write it because I supposed that if someone else did that it would sound like "a brilliant album as always" or "complete shit as always". My point is that it's good now but was shit earlier

Review is better than a lot of the **** on this site, pos'd. However I will not listen to this album until all of the members of this band are replaced with the members of a superior band.

They've had quite a few members in their time.

Great album, I agree with the reviewer, their best effort since "A Predator's Portrait".

Good? Really? Soilwork? Okay I gotta check this out. Although the title does sound stupid.

Hey it's actually pretty good. A ton of music out there slays this but it's certainly not unpleasant, especially in contrast to their former selves.

I think I'll lower the rating to 4. I got a bit too excited that Soilwork actually made something good and got carried away. Still, many songs are superb.
