fuckin' bumped man, this is going to be my AOTY. "desire be, desire go" has one of the best guitar solos i've ever heard, and even "runway, houses, cities, clouds" has grown on me; the beautiful, ethereal part at 2:44 is one of my favourite moments on the record now. "i don't really mind" is just pure beatles awesomeness mixed with a microkorg.

It really doesn't matter dude. I've seen them twice and I didn't think much of them, but they really fucking kill it with this album. Yeah, it might mean they're a studio band (that label has such dirty connotations nowadays) but I don't think it diminishes the record itself at all. Have you even listened to this?



I'm rooting for them at the Arias all the way. They're the best thing to come out of Australia in a long, long time. And besides, I've seen a bunch of youtube videos where they melt faces in a live setting; maybe you caught them on a shitty day? At least check this out:

I'm seeing them at Falls this year, but I've got a sneaking suspicion they're much more suited to smaller venues. Oh well, we'll see how they do then.
