Great album. only downside is that if you try and listen to it all at once, you might have trouble figuring out which song youre listening to. individually tho, these songs are great. just not the classic 5 that everyone thinks.

I think that this album was meant to sounds very similar. I mean after all, it is a thrash album and it's all in the same key.

I dunno, this album has a very good songs, but some of them is hardly memorable... I don't understand how so many people give this album a 5 when there are some filler tracks...

Slayer does not keep my attention very much at all. I own this album and haven't listened to it in forever (and not just because I've lost some interest in the genre) it just all sounds very repetitive and their solos for the most part sound very unorganized. But hey once in awhile for 3 songs or so Slayer is a good listen.

This is a great album, not perfect. Its the quintessence of a thrash metal band at their peak, though there lacks some interest in some songs. This is pretty much raw talent, which is great, but as said before there are parts that seem a little unorganized. My band covers Raining Blood and I love that song. I would say this album is just about as good as Master of Puppets (I think they came out the same year).

This waz a very good album being they're first album with American Records. Oh and why the hell would there need to be a ballad on this album???WTF. This is Slayer we're talking about not those fags Nelson. Slayer would be the soundtrack to hell if you went there and you know i wouldnt mind listening to Slayer 24/7. Yes Rick rubin is a geniuos that is why he is producing Metallica's new abum so look out!! The guitars dont need to be on a clean channel in this album because like I said this is Slayer!! The lyrics are fine on this album hell they are damn good if i say so myself. Overall this waz a pretty good review except for the whole "Ballad" deal

Oh, how I love this album. The first and last songs on the album are some of metal's best, and this still remains to be the best thrash album to date.

Note to 'Metal God' - I never actually stated there SHOULD be a ballad here - I was just using that as a way to express the fact this album is heavy throughout.

I just realized something that I haven't said about this album that kind of bothers me. In "Raining Blood" after the solo there is like a very small instance of silence before the sound of the rain at the end. That really annoys me and I think that they should have linked those two parts together to give the album a better sense of closure.

But even still, I love this album. This Message Edited On 03.11.06

This is a thrash classic for sure. I personally prefer South Of Heaven, but this is very close. My favorite songs are Angel Of Death, Piece By Piece, and Raining Blood.

This album sounded so whacky when i first heard it since it was my first slayer album, i became so obsessed with it for a while that i nearly have all the parts memorized...i also have the still reigning dvd which helps...or hurts...whichever way you look at it..it has kept me from listening to this lately

You're wrong there, because St. Anger isn't better than anything. This Message Edited On 03.27.06

This cd is awesome. It was the first Slayer cd i ever bought and pretty much the first time hearing them. It was so intense hearing it for the first few listens, I was like "this is the most insane band i've ever heard". Of course I've heard crazier and better bands now but this cd is still one of the best in metal.

"Mudvaynian", I honestly dont see how Slayer ripped "Mandatory Suicide" off of "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Is "Mandoatory Suicide" a bit overrated? yes. Ripped off of a Metallica song? No. If you dont like Slayer, thats fine. You are entitled to your own musical likes and dislikes. But to say that Metallica's worst is better than Slayer's best is just plain arrogrance. Because just like what "Scruples" said, St. Anger isnt better than anything.
