this album is different but has some good songs.

It wasn't that the band was bad with dave navarro, it's just that they put some really crappy songs on this album. If they could have eradicated "walkabout," butchered "One Big Mob," etc etc it could have been pretty good. "My Friends" is still a classic.
ONE BIG MOB OH YEA OH YEA

Great review...I think this is the Chili Peppers most underrated and forgotten album...IMO it is their second best behind BSSM....Navorro gives the album a dark feel which is a shade that the Chilis never showed before this album

I love My Friends. It's definitly my favorite RHCP. The first time I heard of it was in a Weird Al polka song.
|
| |
^hehe same here.
My school's human sexuality books have a picture of a guy holding this cd next to a frowning girl in a car while the caption reads, "You have the right to not let others play music around you that is sexually offensive."

I think this is a RHCP classic! The songs are actually fresh and thumpin!
Everyone knocks Dave Navarro's playing, but I'm sure that if the Peppers hadn't gone on record saying that the mesh wasn't good, people would be singing a different tune. Just because it's a different Peppers album doesn't make it bad. And seriously, since Californication, when Frusciante was going through his creative post-addiction spree, the Peppers have been one of the most overrated, shitty rock bands whose history fuels their sales. Like the Gibson guitar company.
Out of all RHCP albums, this ties with Mother's Milk as the best album, and if I were to play favorites, OHM wins. Navarro's playing is excellent. Flea doesn't hold back his chops and he plays like his full self instead of his restrained self. What balls Anthony had left were put on this album.
Of course it's a matter of opinion, but I really think this album gets dogged a lot more than it deserves. There are a couple shit tracks on the album, but every Peppers album has that.
I love BSSM also, but this album just has more energy and attitude.
My favorite tracks: Walkabout, Falling Into Grace, Transcending, Aeroplane, Deep KickThis Message Edited On 04.03.07

what are u talking about....walkabout is awesome!
|
| |
This is one of my favourite RHCP albums. Very underrated...
|

This album interests me a little more than previous, for some reason. Maybe it's because of the dramatic events like Frusciante leaving and Kiedes starting to fall back into his drug addictions again
But probably it's because Warped, Aeroplane, and Shallow Be Thy Game kickkk ***
A song for every occassion, perfect album, in my opinion!

this album has definitely more balls and spunk than BY the Gay and Suckdium Arcadium. So much in your face energy with good musicianship and songwriting. Totally underrated, though the songs are so-so when played live.
A must have for all RHCP fans and all you close minded Frusciante purists who dis this albim without even hearing the genius behind the songs.

I used to hate this album and give it a lot of shit for being different, but man, I seriously love it these days.
|
| |
Totally underrated. I fail to see why this gets so much hate.
|
| |
So this is the best album by the chilis.
And Shallow Be Thy Game is like the best song ever right now.
|
| |
Eurgh, this has Dave Navarro on it.
|
| |
I still haven't got around to hearing this. 'Dave Navarro ' is a bit of a wanker from interviews i seen on tv, but i'm still interested in hearing this.
|
| |
God listens to this album when he's gelling his hair
|
| |
sweet.
|
| |
God likes Dave Navarro?
Oh shi...
|
| |
I like Dave's style.
but really Shallow Be Thy Game may be better than Can't Stop.
|
| |
Well Can't Stop isn't RHCP's best song, so maybe.
