It isn't 1.5 bad, but its bad for Pink Floyd's standards

Some songs have really good parts, but are too 80s poppy for me, like One Slip and On the Turning Away.

It doesn't sound a thing like the Waters-led years, but it does have its moments (few and far between though they are) - chief among them are On The Turning Away, Learning To Fly, and Sorrow. Terminal Frost is also pretty decent (I also feel that A New Machine's eternal, somber and pensive synth voices work well as an "introduction" and an "ending" to Terminal Frost).
That said, I find that Gilmour isn't quite talented in writing lyrics for songs - Roger Waters had a point when he said Gilmour's lyrics were very "third-rate". So, despite all the polished performances he (Gilmour) puts in with the electric guitar it's hard for his tracks not to suffer when they're given near-banal lyrics like "The dogs of war don't negotiate/The dogs of war won't capitulate". Perhaps the only true exception to this rule on this album is the final track Sorrow.

It is definately the WORST Pink Floyd Album by far, It is pure 80's Pop, and NO ONE want to listen to that.
Sorry Gilmour, Im a big fan, but honestly. . . .

It's not as bad as it's made out to be, but it's awful by Pink Floyd standards. It isn't the same without Roger Waters.

I still enjoyed this album. On The Turning Away guitar solo is brilliant.

A Momentary Lapse of Reason is easily Pink Floyd's most underrated record. Most of the die hard fans never gave this album a chance. Shame.
In my opinion A Momentary Lapse of Reason is an excellent record filled with great songs like Signs of Life, On the Turning Away, Yet Another Movie/Round and Around or Sorrow.

An album having Sorrow, On the Turning Away, and Learning to Fly shouldn't have as a bad a rep as this does. Definitely not one of their best but has its solid moments.
