Such a great album. Thin air, dreaming light and angels walk among us are beautiful songs, I would buy an album alone for those 3 tracks.

Fantastic review. I was really looking forward to this album, Anathema is great.

I gave Judgement a listen for the first time and surprisingly I didn't enjoy it as much as this. Go figure.

How long is this album all up? I gave 2 tracks a listen & while they were pretty good, I would have preferred they each didn't stretch out to 8 minutes long.

Almost every track is five minutes or shorter. There are two songs that are eight minutes long - you just happened to pick them.

Like a moth to the flame.

Man, I loved Judgement as much as the next guy, but this album is awful! 7 years later and it sounds exactly like their last two records, only new-agier, cornier, and with worse production. What a let-down.

froghawk, I actually understand where you're coming from, though I disagree completely about it being awful. Anathema is infamous for being one of the most depressing bands out there, their discography consists almost entirely of songs about jealousy, betrayal, anger, depression, anxiety and paranoia... even "Temporary Peace", one of my favorite songs, was bittersweet... happiness from the perspective of a depressed person. This is probably their first notably "upbeat" album if there ever was one. You've also gotta keep in mind they wrote much of this album back when A Natural Disaster was still being advertised as their new album. In a way I think this is a continuation of themes they were attempting to address in that album, but here they break free from some of their long-standing formulas and write something a bit more honest. I don't see how it's "new-agier" unless you are just a chronically bitter person.

What a let-down. I respect your opinion, but I definitely have to disagree. Maybe you need to listen to it more or pay more attention while it's on, but this isn't much like the last two albums at all. Yes, it shares a few similarities and it seems that you're latching on to those few things instead of hearing the whole composition. What about this seems corny to you? As for the production, this is easily the best sounding album of their career.

the fact you say the production sucks leads me to believe you have yet to hear the album. production quality isn't really an opinion
