Well, well, well...
Go watch Clockwork Orange, boys!
There's nothing like Opeth. No band can do this mix of Death Metal and Progressive Rock like they do. And it's all, and, yeah, MAYH IS awesome, too. Still Life is great, anyway, but Damnation and Deliverance, still good, but misplaced.

I'll be honest
I've given this album a few spins and it doesn't click for me. It's like as soon as the heaviness gathers momentum they make a half-assed transition to acoustic wankery.
That being said it is still quite good

Would rather listen to belakor any day

yeah except to me that "half-assed transition" is incredible, and the "acoustic wankery" is absolutely beautiful. i've listened to belakor and found them very boring, but then again maybe i haven't listened to their albums enough. blackwater park also took me a bunch of listens before i finally got it

Album is not over-rated at all! Blackwater Park (song) is phenomenal.
Agreed, took me a couple of listens too.

Didn't click for me either, Simbolic nailed my issue with the album (bonus track was pretty sweet though)

I really agree with the alex silveri review atm

took me A LOT of listens of albums / songs in Opeth's discog for them to really click for me. literally took months. i went from "they have some cool things going on here and there" to "omg every second of this is the best thing ever" to where i'm at now, which is "wow i still love this so much, but i'm not as mystified by it as i once was"

Same, I remember thinking that 'Serenity Painted Death' was unreal and couldn't be topped. Obviously, it could.
