I'm in the minority, I guess, but I really like this album. It's a lot of fun.

most underrated Sabs album; okay some songs are more Gillan than Sabs but ZtheH and DtheP are awesome!

Apparently it's debated that this album or Dehumanizer are the most underrated Black Sabbath albums. Dehumanizer is fantastic, haven't listened to this

@TheNotrap

I Agree, one of the few post-Ozzy albums that enjoy. Nothing against Dio, I just prefer Ozzy's voice. Though I will admit Dio is the more talented singer, Ozzy just has that certain demeanor that i prefer.

Yeah Dio was more talented but Ozzy will remain Sabbath's voice, that's a fact.

I think Dehumanizer album is Overrated, because it is the last sabbath album recorded with Dio!

So, let's be honest: Why do I think "Born Again" is a good record?

Because of the opener track "Trashed", the screams on "Disturbing The Priest", The Dark (interlude), the solo in "Zero The Hero", The melodies in "Born Again", Hot line (the rocker) and Keep it Warm (the closing ballad with a badass solo).

The lyrics are nothing noteworthy, but it works. The production could be very much better. I recommend to check also "Born Again Unmixed Demos & The Fallen". It's the demo record of Born Again with a bit better production.

Well this is weird, I didn't expect so much hate for this album. I knew some people bashed it for the poor production (which I thought was fine), but hating the album because it had poor, unfitting vocals and uninspired musicianship is news to me.

Personally I think it's one of the best Heavy Metal albums out there, and it's definitely one of the best Sabbath albums. Songs like "Disturbing the Priest", and "Hot Line" are total bangers.

Plenty of memorable moments as well, the crazy intro laugh on "Disturbing the Priest", accompanied with a screeching riff (personally when I heard it, it gave me the chills, and this part was stuck in my head for a long time; still is). The muddy riff on "Born Again", and a lot of catchy refrains spread over the entire album. "Keep it Warm" had a pretty good solo as well.

So, I really don't get why this album is being put down for lack of inspiration and execution, while both are definitely present.

"If you can look through the fact that Gillan just doesn’t work with Sabbath, the production is awful, the players are uninspired and none of the tracks are actually memorable in any way whatsoever, I suppose you could like this."

lol. this quote should be on a sticker on the album`s cover.

[i like the cover art. perhaps it`s the best thing about the album. cover art in general doesn`t seem to get attn in sputnik reviews.]

Forbidden is pretty bad, but this and Headless Cross are worse.

This is worse than Headless Cross. At least that one is finishable. I couldn't even stand the first song off of this.

The question is, if it wasn't a Black Sabbath album would you rate it differently?

Personally, I wouldn't bother listening more than 1-2 songs but my rating would probably be the same if I had listened to it in its entirety.
