nothing against the review man, hey monday just isn't that good...and i like this crappy pop punk shit, this is girlfriend music bro, its not actually good but guys listen to it because its keeps their significant other happy, and then guy goes home and puts on (insert indie/punk/non-radio friendly band here) and pretends that he doesn't like the silly little pop-punk band, but deep down he actually relishes in the fun, catchy poppiness. however this does not apply to hey monday, because they just aren't that good lol

Well they ARE that good to me. I'm a man and just like her vocals and catchy pop sound.
| | | ^ haha same, I could've written the review better but they are pretty sweet lol, and I'm a dude who listens to death metal as well

Review is better than you've been given credit for. I gave you a pos. vote.
| | | thanks man, its obviously not the best...I wrote a great one for the Counting Crows but this one was kinda rushed. I made some small edits but I've thrown in the towel, they'll bitch a while and keep neg'ing but its all good lol
| | | still a slew of bad things, but it's moderately better... mvdu you missed it, it was atrocious before and deserved the criticism.
| | | yeah it was terrible, I've fixed a lot of it and I'll edit it later, but it is what it is
| | | Album Rating: 4.5 | Sound Off
Yeah when he first posted it it had mistakes, but at least he has listened to the criticism. I see potential here.
| | | I am revising it again.....any sugggestions from anybody?
| | | yep...
summary: that aside in the parentheses is entirely unnecessary
intro: haven't heard em, but users seem to agree this isn't power-pop. may want to either back this up or change it. "While some would say that the riffs are cliche and tasteless, some others would say they are catchy and lively. I am one of the latter who believe, that although not technically perfect or impressive, they are filled with catchy hooks and simple but effective power chords." the whole- "some would say" thing is a very weak argument, it's all hypothetical. you want to base your review on more concrete things. get rid of that nasty pun. try adding some encompassing statement here about WHY the album is a classic, hence the point of the review.
body: again, the "some find" thing... try to stick to describing WHY THIS IS A CLASSIC... rather than saying some people don't like aspect A, but aspect B is kinda cool!... "Cassaddee Pope herself" take out 'herself.' you use 'in fact' two sentences in a row. "Songs you felt were mediocre before (Arizona) now seem much better." This is not good. You're reviewing the album- unless the live performance adds something SPECIFIC to the album, stray away. Also, 'Songs I* felt were mediocre...' wut? I haven't heard this before... change.
closing: "Now to the song writing structure." don't know what you're trying to say here, but this needs changed... it's a fragment too (I think). "This genre is not made for complex time signatures that BTBAM and CoCa are known for, nor for the extensive musicianship found in those two bands." this utterly random namedropping has nothing to do with anything. "This is power-pop and the whole point to power-pop is to be catchy, and they perfect this aspect." This seems to be your only, if somewhat weak, reason for a 'classic.' You may REALLY want to add to that and justify it a whole lot more. don't use 'raped' as a verb in your review. " (although one wonders how much you can really be in "love" at age 18)" unnecessary aside. " All and all" I think you mean 'all in all', even thought you just said that a sentence ago.
this album by many will not be a classic, but by its genre's standards and expectations, it is definitely a classic.
once again, this really isn't justification for a classic. many think you're not even IN the right genre here. as a review, your mistakes have been minimized some... but as a justification for a classic album, this has nowhere near the argument it should have, to be honest.
hope that helps.
| | | thanks I'll work on it, and regardless of what the users say, they ARE power-pop as mentioned by the band...but I'll edit it some more
| | | bands get their own genres wrong all the time
| | | Album Rating: 5.0
The review honestly wasn't too bad, but it could be better. Album is great though
| | | SeaAnemone ftw
| | | well when its pop mixed with synth its generally known as power-pop, but yeah some bands do get their own genre wrong...but then again so does the general public
| | | even if this is power pop, that's still a ridiculously crazy assertion that it's a classic album because it has somehow (without any references other than catchiness) perfected everything about the genre.
Attack! Attack! are the perfect crabcore band! Everything they sing about and do and the way they dance is so crabcore, so it's a classic!
see what I mean?
| | | *Attack Attack!
| | | yeah I do, but a rating is also (contrary to majority opinion) subjective and is up to the reviewer how he/she feels the album should be rated. I'll edit it and add more argument as WHY I feel its a classic, but regardless, it'll stay a classic.....and when I talked about the live show, it does pertain to the album because of the fact that after you see them live, the album tends to seem that much better to you. I know its not directly tied to just the album, but it definitely adds to the album experience. Professional reviewers will do that too, its just something else that adds to the experience of the album

Proffessional reviewers from where? Rolling Stone?
| | | believe me, I'm well-aware that music is subjective haha
but I'm saying, if you're going to write a review, you should have some good reasons as to why you feel this way- and like I pointed out earlier a bunch of times... unless you disagree, I don't think you did that.
it's catchy.
it's a classic of the genre
that's all I got, and those are really insufficient to be frank.
as for the live thing, yes- it can be a good addition... but go into how it makes the songs better, rather than just saying that it does.
