You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Sometimes I don't mind bands that stick to their guns and play similar style of music as long as they keep it interesting, write good riffs, and that it has some balls. Basically, as long as the songwriting is still strong. But then I like when a band evolves their sound after every album, tests new water, and tries new things. And sometimes when bands do this they either go too far or just don't have the capability to evolve yet. I like that you don't praise this album because I think it is great, but not that amazing. There are some great songs. Some of the songs show an essence of them evolving. Musicianship wise these guys should be capable of that and while this album is great, I know they can do better.

Thanks for the pos's guys, even though i tried to keep the review short i maybe should've gone into

some extra detail, but i'll work on that in my next review.

This album just didn't impress me as much as it clearly did for a lot of other people

Good review. I agree with everything. Even though they change time signatures a lot, it's still the same "chug chug chug" of every other metalcore band out there, and the vocals are just awful. Why would he even attempt cleans? Yeesh.

"with clearer enunciation comes closer scrutiny of his lyrics, which at times sound as if they were written by a high school student."

What's that supposed to mean? High school students can't be good lyricists?

I've got to say I could not possibly disagree with this review more. Well written, well stated opinions, but when you said his cleans could be cringe worthy I wanted to Danza slap you right through the screen. His soulful vocal moments on "Parasitic Twin" are reason enough to buy this record.

erebus666 your saying it's overrated just because you don't like it aren't ya? They aren't known enough to achieve the status of sellouts and that's a fact , appart in the uk they are barely known and have even been refused concerts in countries like germany wich would never happen to a sellout band . Also I agree with jconley77 , it seems extremly unfair to ask a band to reinvent their style of playing when the band in question has only 4 albums who almost all have different musicians . I thought it was a truly intense album on the artistic standpoint and musicianship , can't neg you review but i don't agree with most of the things you said , there isn't any stagnation , greg puciato was able to use his vocals in a more subtle and interesting way and so did guitars .
