excellent record, between a 4 and 4.5 on it, one of the best Sabbath records, the only ones that surpass this for me are their first two. Fantastic review, as always, POS.

Good review, and kudos for mentioning Martin Birch, who had a hand in some of the greatest metal albums in the late 70's - early 80's.

"the work Black Sabbath created in the 70’s fronted by the Prince of Darkness has never been topped in terms of ... influence"
'more influential than Death? whoa'
Dude, I love Death, but Sabbath was there before them. Even Chuck himself was likely a Sabbath fan.
Not to mention that Judas Priest, Motorhead and Iron Maiden were also there quite some time before Death arrived.
Even thrash was starting to rear it's head when Death was born, and Death's music grew largely to having absorbed, not only band's before it's time, but band's contemporary to it's early years as well. And there's also the fact that Death only influenced bands within the extreme metal range in general. Sabbath influenced a lot of bands from different subgenres, not just metal.

Paranoid beats this easily for me

I guess it depends on my craving. Paranoid rules hard, but MOR at the least tops it. I find HAH having the higher replay value.

I find this has slightly less replay value than all of the first 6, but it doesnt take away from how
good this album is
