Oh and I'm new to the weakerthans and want to get into them, and this review makes me think I should just go ahead and start with this cd.
i wouldn't start with a live cd, dude, go for 'left & leaving' and/or 'reconstruction site'.

thanks, I've had left & leaving recommended by a friend as well, so I guess I'll start with that. I like the little bit of weakerthans I've heard so far, so I'm excited to come back to this live cd.

It's a fantastic compilation of Weakethans songs, and it's as good as it could've been, but I think the format has certain boundaries in terms of quality.
Pretty much. I mean as a Weakerthans fan, this is awesome. But as the songs mostly don't differ greatly from the studio versions, it seems an unecessary addition just casual fans, unlike say, Zeppelin's How the West Was Won, or Rush's Exit Stage Left.

4.9 avg rating... sounds about right

hey maybe

almost grabbed this to review for the radio but decided against it cause ddin't seem fair for my first exposure to the band to be a live album
|
| |
interesting
i have left and leaving and was never horribly impressed, another shot is in order
|
| |
no such thing as a casual weakerthans fan
blasphemy I know, but I've come across a few... but I suppose they're not real fans then.

Haven't heard from this band before so I'm curious how this'll turn out.

I actually think this would be a pretty good place to start out with Weakerthans, it's a really high quality recording and the tracklisting is like a greatest hits album. I never got into Reunion Tour despite Reconstruction Site being one of my favourite albums ever, but this has gotten me into it... the live version of Night Windows is amazing!

however...
"i have left and leaving and was never horribly impressed, another shot is in order"
I think everyone who is rabidly into Weakerthans has heard Reconstruction Site (yeah?), so I'd suggest that should be your next shot. so... ignore me and start with Reconstruction Site!

The Weakerthans are one of my favourite bands, seen them live a couple times, met John K Samson, yet I do not feel the need to get this. I guess I'm just not big on live albums though the DVD would be pretty awesome. Great set list too, all excellent songs.
