Following their impressive self-released EP 'Start a Fire', Utah's Neon Trees step up to major label status on debut LP 'Habits'. And you can see why, with a consistent, commercial-friendly sound that is just begging to be sung along to by the masses. Dialing down their energetic synth-rock for more of a poppy new-wave vibe, the quartet clearly remind of The Killers as infectious hooks abound. Repetition does set in (especially on the 8 track standard version of the LP), while some of the lyrics are head-shakingly inane, but ultimately this is a fun, catchy & crowd-pleasing release. Recommended Tracks: Animal, Sins of My Youth, 1983 & Girls and Boys in School.
