So really, if you like old Burzum and think this is shit, you really have no idea what the fuck your talking about. Fact!
How is that fact? in this album his repetition doesn't seem to work well, it gets boring after4-5 mins, just because he uses the same technique again doesnt mean its always gonna work.

The quality does though, I'm sorry. Another reason why this is on par with his older stuff is because he got rid of the retarded ambient tracks. And calling my argument stupid is like you claiming you know what the hell your talking about.

Proof that you have no idea what the hell your talking about.

i already stated sometimes his ambience went too far in some occasions....and your argument is like saying insomnium have always had the same sound therefore its going to work, yet everyone hated on their latest album. Not quite the same thing i know, but just because Varg's repetition worked in the past doesnt mean its always gonna work, i don't think it works so well here in the longer tracks and i don't think its at the same quality.

and your argument basically says everyone who voted this 3.5 and below and put Burzum's previous work as 4.5 and above are also wrong. So you're saying the majority of people on here are wrong?

Hollier, if you had any sense of why this is on par with his older stuff, you would realize that his older albums are a series of hypnotic, repeating riffs. At least on here, he injects some of his old, blander work with bits of melody. This is like saying "I like this bands older stuff and while their new stuff retains the exact ingredients that made them great in the past, I really don't like it."
And calling my argument stupid and then editing it is pretty cowardly man.

I never said that, I said he updated his older stuff. And bringing up Insomnium makes your argument fail. They've written the same album 3 times.

On this site, hell yes. ALOT of people jump-ship on this site (been here long enough and I see it happen everyday). Mostly my comments are for a laugh (and the people who I actually care about know this) but since you've decided to take them to the next level, I'm going to defend my word.
I will finish this after work.

how did i edit your argument? i just pointed out that the majority of people on here have the same rating as me, maybe not everyone has the same argument.
Personally i feel the ambience/atmosphere with the repetitive riffs is what made his music so hynoptic (as i stated on my review) the lack of hynoptic ambience just leaves with the repetitive riffs, maybe that sounds retarded to you, but the atmosphere for me along with the riffs is what made it so hynoptic, taking out the atmosphere and just having a series of repeating riffs doesnt seem to work. Im not saying he should make another tomhet but the lack of background atmosphere focusing on just the riffs and the occasion nice melody doesn't seem to work for me on the longer songs. Is what im saying clear to you now? haha maybe i should of explained that straight away, but its in my review. I just don't think without the atmosphere that it works.

What could possibly make it clearer is if you actually define what you mean by "atmosphere and ambiance" or "hypnotic ambiance" in your review and in the past few posts, you say it numerous times but never actually go into detail about it.
I'm off to work too, interested to hear where this goes when I'm back.

yeah your right crysis, what i mean for example is when he mixes in the synthesizer with the repetitive riffs, with the repetition with them both mixed in it creates a hynoptic like state, thats where the repetition works for me. With Belus there isnt the same sort of mix between the synthesizer and the riffs with the synthesizer creating the atmosphere (ambience might of not been the correct word i don't know). Belus doesn't seem to mix them both in like his earlier work so with the lack of synthesizer along with the riffs, your just left with the riffs. The repetitive riffs alone doesn't do it for me, i end up bored after 4-5 mins because its lacking the synthesizers, both elements for me is what puts me in a hypnotic state. I need to go to uni, ill be interested to see what wiz and crysis replies with. If im not clear enough then ill try and explain it another way.

I agree with you in your description of how Varg has made the atmosphere so strong in his past albums, but I simply can't stress enough how this was not supposed to be like his earlier albums. For all intents and purposes I think Burzum is dead save the name itself. This is almost a different band.

Yeah i understand that, i reckon maybe he could make albums as strong without the atmosphere but for me it doesn't work here.

Home from work!
how did i edit your argument? i just pointed out that the majority of people on here have the same rating as me, maybe not everyone has the same argument.
You called my argument stupid and then you edited it hahaha. No worries though!
I read your review and I guess I should have been clear with my argument as well. Crysis summed it up perfectly with this:
What could possibly make it clearer is if you actually define what you mean by "atmosphere and ambiance" or "hypnotic ambiance" in your review and in the past few posts, you say it numerous times but never actually go into detail about it.
As for the lack of keys, I do enjoy 'Tomhet' but when he gets all self-indulgent with 25 minute plodding synthfests, I lose all respect for the keys that try and bring his ugliness back down to earth. The lack of keys on here makes me happy because he simply abused the fuck out of them on his past few releases. This of course is a matter of taste and I can't argue that. However, my main argument is that saying that his newer material doesn't stand up to his past work is simply like what you stated about Insomnium (bad example but we will use it in this case). How can you like one and not the other? His songs are structured the exact same way and his focus on prolonging riffs for minutes on end is done on his older stuff as well. What's not to like when you're given a second helping of something that was really well-done in the first place? I guarantee, this album will sink in to alot of people and will get the respect it deserves. Oh well though, I just see it different I guess.
And I apologize for lashing out the way I did. I should be setting a better example since I've been a user here for a good long while now.
Youre making it harder and harder for me to keep loving you
Tough love I guess. I do that with everybody about particular albums.
