lol, here's an example of how dumb u really are:
I see you are a big Alice in Chains fan(as am I), but you don't hear the angst in their music? C'mon dude. Your review makes absolutely no sense whatsoever due to the fact that you are pointing to one band as the chief and major influence on a genre. that statement in itself is just stupid and ignorant.
all bands have angst and songs about them/people not being understood.

This brings us to the drums. There isn't much to say about them except that they're moderately fast, but totally uninspired. Vinny Paul abuses the toms and crash symbols to an extent where you can literally plan out what his next fill will be in your head. On top of that, their clicky production makes them a nuisance over time.

Vinnie uses varied double-bass, dunno wtf you're smoking. Also, it's spelled "cymbals". This is Groove Metal, not Nu-Metal.

Hey is Mastodon Nu Metal? They have a LOT of downtuned riffs!

Language could be improved, but it's a valid arguement and good attempt at a review.

"Oh shit! Black Sabbath must have been Nu Metal because they played downtuned chords and were "angsty" (see: "They're tired of being pushed around and told just what to do" from children of the grave)."

You're joking, right? First off, Children of the Grave is about nuclear warfare.

Second, I'm talking about the "nobody understands me" kind of angst.

Third, Black Sabbath's riffs actually went somewhere. Just compare any Sabbath song to "Walk".

Alice in Chains' lyrics, unlike Pantera's, have actual depth and meaning. Pantera's lyrics never rise above temper tantrums.

I'm mocking you by taking lyrics out of context and putting them out as angsty. The vast majority of the lyrics on this album are more agressive, I'll fucking injure you lyrics. Even if they are angsty, who cares? It's a bullshit argument. The Smiths were angsty, but they are a fucking amazing band.

Paranoid has the same riff throughout the entire song. That's not going somewhere. But that's irrevelant.

I think the only song you heard was walk. This Love is actual written very well and progresses just fine.

edit: I don't know why I'm defending Pantera. I don't really like them that much.

Nope. Even when I was into this band at one point, "This Love" always struck me as boring and skippable.

I agree Alice in Chains lyrics have meaning, but it's not all about lyrics dude. Think about it: what gets you moving, what gets your head bobbing(or banging, whatever)? It aint the lyrics, it's the music. And the fact that you can't seem to wrap your tiny lil brain around the fact that every band that you love, that i love, that everyone loves in the genre of metal had something to do with nu-metal. think about it.
oh, and pantera's groove metal, fuckin 'tard. go back to baitin'!

You're entitled to your own opinion, and the fact that every influencial metal band goes without saying. What you fail to grasp is the amount of influence Pantera had. Listen to some Mudvayne and then put on some Pantera. You'll find some shocking similarities.

^good example, except for the fact that it's irrelevant. dude, usually when 100 people tell you that you're wrong and only 2 or 3 are telling you that you're right.... well, i'll let you guess what my next statement is

Mr. Bungle arguably had the greatest impact on nu metal, but Mr. Bungle are a really awesome band. Who influenced who is irrelevant. It's what the actual music sounds like.

Listen to some Throwdown, then listen to Pantera. Listen to Slipknot, listen to etc etc etc. Of course inspired bands are going to have some similarities.
