Despite killing his family in a longtime steroid induced fury, The Canadian was a beast when he was on his game.

Correction* Killing his family after so many concussions that his 40 year old brain shared almost identical similarities with that of an 80 year old alzheimers patient.

You haven't seen any NFL players go around on a killign spree and they get more concussions than anybody. Also......

Actually balls:

After the double-murder suicide, former wrestler Christopher Nowinski contacted Michael Benoit, father of Chris Benoit, suggesting that years of trauma to his son's brain may have led to his actions. Tests were conducted on Benoit's brain by Julian Bailes, the head of neurosurgery at West Virginia University, and results showed that "Benoit's brain was so severely damaged it resembled the brain of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient."[106] He was reported to have had an advanced form of dementia, similar to the brains of four retired NFL players who had suffered multiple concussions, sank into depression, and harmed themselves or others. Bailes and his colleagues concluded that repeated concussions can lead to dementia, which can contribute to severe behavioral problems.[107] Benoit's father suggests that brain damage may have been the leading cause of the crime.[108] He also confirmed that his son was quietly cremated, but what was done with the ashes is not public knowledge.[109]

I admit I didn't know of that. I approve of this message but never knew concussions were this rampant amongst WWE. Did the steroid usage at all contribute? Regardless, I stand by my orignal post that prime Benoit ruled.

Benoit was awesome, THE CANADIAN CRIPPLER. And yes a pro wrestler will sustain a fair few concussions every year. Generally a lot worse in Japan and US companies like Ring Of Honor and TNA because they don't ban moves like the wwe. e.g.

His testosterone levels were also ten times higher than normal. It's strange though, if his brain was so badly damaged surely people should've noticed that he was behaving strangely and helped him before he snapped.

Probably would've just been a little more anti-socia,l the guy wasn't exactly mr. happy considering Eddie Guerrero died 2 year previously. It doesn't take long for a mental state to snap when it comes to things like this (thank you neuroscience) in fact, considering he hung himself after killing his family tends to support the idea that it was a flash in which he had no control and after coming back to total consciousness he couldn't deal with what he had done.

Correct me if i'm wrong, as my recollections of this case are sketchy, but i'm pretty sure he tied up his wife, then strangled her, and waited a day before killing his kid, it wasn't just a spur of the moment rage where he killed both of them quickly.

He strangled his wife, killed his son and then himself. Over the course of three days. A mental state alteration can range from 5 minutes to 10 years and more. Especially in the case of a disease like alzheimers. I've done case studys about people who spent 8 years thinking they've gone back to being 12 when they're 70. And these people also hurt themselves and others because they can't deal with what's facing them. Combine that with the raised testosterone levels and you've got a recipe for disaster.
