The blastbeats and the tremolo picked riffs.

Oh. I was under the impression that black metal is sort of orchestrated, and tremolo picking and blast beats are trademarks of death metal. Would Deicide be black metal, then?
|
| |
No, Deicide are definitely death metal. To hear the difference, check out some Darkthrone, Burzum and Emperor and compare them to Morbid Angel, Vital Remains and Cryptopsy.

I was wondering the same thing. Did that guy delete his? I kind of liked mine though...

The sweep picking in "Alaska From Alaska" is some of the best I've ever heard next to Ensiferum. br3ad man was right about the slow stuff being weaker, but the heavy stuff is definatly a few bunny hops ahead of The Silent Circus.

| |
i love this album and this band. definately a step up from the silent circus, although i would have liked to have heard more slow parts in it as some others have mentioned, but overall there's nothing to complain about. a must listen for anyone into heavy music.

This album is amazing in all aspects. The sweep picking, the heavy riffs, the vocals.
I like this band alot and The Black Dahlia murder alot, can anyone point me towards another band like these?
Thx.

Check out Nile, a great technical death metal band with tons of Egyptian overtones. They are awesome guitarists, as well as vocalists and lyricists. The drumming is insane too. However, don't be looking for clean passages or soft, emotional parts.

I have the Nile cd with "sarcoughagos" on it. I think it's called "In their Darkened Shrines". Thx though. I havn't checked out Nile's new album, and I liked the single. I'm thinking something metalcore/death metal.
|
| |
I suggest...checking out some Unearth. They are a great metalcore band. Also, pop in Lamb of God's As The Palaces Burn for some great thrashcore.

I have the oncoming storm by unearth. I give it alot of listens. I have Ashes of The Wake from Lamb Of God and it's alright, good but not great. Too much filler.
|
| |
Trust me, As The Palaces Burn is WAY different than Ashes of the Wake. Heavier, better production, and more primal.
|
| |
I may check that out again. I hated Ashes of the Wake, but they have a good sound. I'm wondering what they did with it in their early years.
|
| |
Go for Glass Casket, they're tech death metal with metalcore sounding vocals. They share members with BTBAM.

Hmm. I've never heard of them. I'll look them up for sure though.

Their best song (imo their best) is up for download on their website, www.glasscasket.com
