The bass was speedy, the guitar was bluesy, the vocals were interesting, i cant see how this got a 2.

quite average debut; i really dont think it's THAT bad as it's sometimes said, still very far from heights they reached with BSSM or one hot minute; it's worth listening due to some great basslines delivered by flea, there's some good guitar work too; on the other hand guitars dont play a leading role here; with riffs pushed into the background, just compelting flea's stuff, this album doesnt have much to offer to a dedicated rock fan; it lacks a balance between rock and funk.. with some excepts; green heaven is one of the highlights here, it shows the way to their later releases i guess; the same with true men...; still, there's not too many memorable songs and the production make matters even worse; if you're not a rhcp' diehard you'll treat their debut as a kind of curiosity;

Been close to 10 months since my last comment on this thread. And piss was right, this actually is a pretty good album. Nag's right on a lot of things, but not on RHCP imo. Then again, Nag is obv more of a 90's-2000's Peppers kinda guy.
Love the musicianship on here, highly original. And I used to think this was one of their worst records.
