Sonic Brew will probably always be my favorite BLS, but Mafia definately satisfied me, it was everything i was expecting.
LAST SUMMER I GOT MY COPY SIGNED BY THE BAND AT OZZFEST!!!!

What I've heard off of this (which is not much) is not bad at all. I liked it a lot. Zakk sounds too much like Ozzy to make the vocals anything real spectacular, though.

To critisize and focus to much on Zakks vocals is the wrong thing to do when listening to an album like this. Zakk probably knows himself that he isn't the greatest of singers or lyricists. Thankfully the not so great vocals are over shadowed and blown away by some decent riffs and awesome solos. Its just a hard rocking, head banging behemoth of an album. But if people concentrate to much on the vocals...there just going to be disappointed. IMO the vocals aren't that shabby anyway so for me this album was great fun to listen to.

BLS is awesome, Mafia is above average, Zakk is one of the greatest guitarists in history. He's also a complete asshole, but that really takes nothing away from the music.

I liked this album quite a bit. For many reasons.

I believe the untited song at the end(a hidden track) is a cover of Lynard Skynard's "I Never Dreamed".

I read that it was,anyways...

Also,I notice that people hate shred solos in slower songs, but what about Freebird?Freebird doesn't have any shred solos, but it still has much faster guitar playing in the end than it does in the beginning....yet everyone seems to love it. It'd be pretty hypocritical if people love that song and bash Zakk for putting a shreddy solo in "In This River".

People have also bashed Mark Tremonti for adding a faster solo to "Open Your Eyes"(or whatever that song was called)...I personally love that solo.

My step dad really likes this band, but I hate them. Their music is kind of more in his generation, though.

I really like this band. This is probably my favourite album by them. "Fire it Up" has the easiest riff but it sounds awesome.

A good album. I like Zakks vocals (Im probably in the lesser group here), but to me the let down was the solos.... maybe slow down a little here and there.

I like his attitude of just going for it, just some good rocking sounds for beer drinkers. Good stuff.

Zakk Wylde doesn't know when and when not to solo, and the solo's he does do are rather mediocre because he does them all the time.

I like the solos in this album, even the one in In This River. Dirt On The Grave is pretty much overlooked too, I like that song.

Here I am, commenting after myself almost a year later. I'm taking my roommate and a friend to New York to see BLS and Sevendust. They haven't been to a concert before, I'm going to give this album a few spins.

Pulled this out of the archives, haven't listened to it for a long time.

I never liked this as much as Hangover Music, but goddamn if the songs of this don't make me smile. The talkbox at the start of Fire It Up is hilarious, Forever Down has always been my favourite though.

mafia is a pretty good album from start to finish and there is quite a bit of ozzy influence perhaps similar to blessed hell ride.I love the opening fire it up along with suicide messiah the pinnacle of mafia's greatness. The piano ballads are overall Ok/somewhat shaky the best out of the 3 is dirt on your grave that ones quite unique

some good tracks along with many fails; i think this one is overrated and the formula known from blessed hellride doesnt work as good as it did before; zakk's great soloing and his strong sense of melody cant hide mafia's general unevenness; especially an album's ending sounds disappointing; still i must admit fire it up, suicide messiah, in this river and death march are brilliant tracks;

Definitely uneven, but then again, BLS albums usually are. It's far from great, but what I enjoy about BLS is they make honest music, music you know the band enjoys to write, record and play. And that can only be said for a few bands nowadays. I'd say the exact same thing for Motorhead.
