This review isn't really a review at all, in an attempt to get your points across (which to a degree are valid) you turn this "essay" into a one sided argument.

and youre not really a girl, you fucking troll.

Im assuming that's a clockwork orange reference. never knew his last name was DeLarge. Its been forever since i read that damn book. watched the movie a few days ago actually.

returntorock, you arent convincing anyone that this album and band in general arent steaming piles of shit.

and there's a reason most people think american idiot is green day's first release. everything but dookie was mediocre at best during early 90's green day, and yeah dookie shits (pun) on american idiot, even though its a fantastic album, and both destroy 21CB which is ok, tops. but beyond that, their discography is nothing special.

its not like i hate green day or anything, i used to adore them.

just now... i like my music with talent.

i.e.: vicious and rotten (SO EDGY BTW) are fucking worthless.

WhereIsMyMind - Yep, I almost always forget that's his name as well. Damn good book, and movie. One of the few instances where I can't decide if the movie or book is better (then again, Kubrick's movies are hard to beat)

And I'm not trying to make this a one sided argument (whomever was the one I said that, sorry, I can't remember who it was). This is why I'm open to those who think differently about the problem; that's why you can leave comments. I don't see it as an argument though, I just think the group of people who dislike this album aren't counted for as much as those who praise it.

yeah i know alex and his loyal (not so much) droogs, but that's about as far as i know names in that

book. honestly, i think the movie is better, simply because kubrick put the book on screen so

goddamn perfectly, its really flawless. the world he created based on burgess' novel couldnt have

been better if you ask me, plus the way he utilized the ode to joy and singing in the rain will

haunt me forever, truly a classic movie, and im a movie snob if there ever was one so i know its a

great movie. kubrick can do no wrong.

back on topic though, i feel like i didnt elaborate enough on my green day point. american idiot may

as well be their first album to anyone new to the "scene" these days, cause you arent likely to find

dookie on shelves most places, so its probably the first album most people get (or 21CB, which was a

disappointment, as much as i wanted to love it)

so yeah most people getting into GD probably start with AM and 21CB and somewhere along the lines

learn that they had been making music for over a decade prior, and sniff out dookie (im just full of

puns today, huh?) and see what they were like at their best.

back on the actual topic, album is still ridiculously bad, seriously, gallows is more punk than

this.

Re: Green Day, i still see dookie in most places. then again, I live in europe. I would also recommend Kerplunk as probably their second best pre-AI.

Re: clockwork orange, the book is better. can't say why, it just is.

Re: the pistols. being ridiculously bad is kinda the whole point.

and yeah simple music can be good, but early era green day is often just plain boring as opposed to simple and good.

the gallows comment was obvious sarcasm, besides, they can actually somewhat play their instruments, unlike anyone in this band.
