Long live the spork!
this band did go pretty hard in that respect lol

Years (jesus... a decade?) ago a friend in high school recommended "Headless Corpse Enactment" to me and I listened to it and sort of dismissed it as a goofy pseudo-metal thing that I would return occasionally but never actually put any merit into. Finally began to check their discography out yesterday though and man, this album is dope.

^ came here to say this actually.
Cool band, glad I revisited. This was probably a tad too ‘out there‘ in my youth. Checking out their other stuff now.

Yeah I still love the crap out of this. Probably a top 10 album for me. Ill take a break from it and come back expecting to enjoy it less, but I end up liking it even more.

also, piggybacking off of what walrustusk said, i think theyre goofy pseudo metal moments are actually their worst. i too heard helpless corpse reenactment first and it gave me the wrong impression.

formicary is the worstest but otherwise yes this is probably accurate for this album hm

This was one of the first digs this site recommended to me when I arrived here back in 2011. In retrospect I was way too green and was just dazed by the weirdness, eventually liking but ultimately discarding the whole band from my brainspace a few months later.
Time for a rediscovery now that 11 years have past and taste has been shaped.

lol thats such a typical sput experience. i remember joining the site and being amazed by the amount of music entering my awareness. i have a distinct memory of trying to get into 'gospel - the moon is a dead world' and being baffled by it

Haha I can totally imagine that ! When I got here first I was legit listening to SOAD and Punish Yourself through shitty limewire 96kbps files. My brain hit Maudlin of the Well, Isis, Aphex Twin & whatever greg84 was reviewing within the first few days of arriving and has been cracked ever since.
This here was probs the most brutal jump tho. This and whatever the fuck Farrah Abraham is.
