I don't know about you, but I don't pretending to enjoy listening to bad music. You make some good points but really and truly, you just posted a stream of thought that applies to not one single person on this earth but yourself.

Dont deprive yourself of good music just because of 1 tiny little nuance.
if by 1 tiny little nuance you mean the album is butts

I aggree with Wiz; album iz no gud. I don't think this band, along with many other tech death groups, have enough drive to them. If they'd quit with all the unnecessarily techy riffs and just add some techy palm muting it'd be listenable, but as is there's nothing driving the songs. Or at least that's how it is on their second album ;-)

"You're an idiot. This is just basic metal. Not post grind hardcore breakdown core shredfest meltdown music. Music for the sake of music. That's all. When this came out in 2006 there hadn't been anything this close to a worthy listen since Animosity's "Empires." I guess it's not Cryptopsy, so let's keep bitching."
..."But seriously, look at this guy's other reviews... Mandy Moore, and Crowpath? What're we doing here??"
Agreed......Poorly written, and poorly rated. At the time of this album's release, there really WAS nothing else this impressive and new sounding - People criticize and analyze albums FAR too much these days; You must realise that in the end - This IS still just music - Metal to be exact but no time for semantics.
If I wanted to, I TOO could sit here for an hour and think of stuff that's wrong with this album and all other bands that fall in line with this - But, why would I? If you stop for a second, and remove your head from your ass (which I have to do as well occasionally), then you'll realise that all in all this is a good listen, albeit a few minor annoyances that you or I may not immediately agree with, but why shun and ignore an obviously talented group that has solid material, over 1 issue? It's pointless. And it ultimately deprives you of experience and what could end up being a rather enjoyable listen.
This is essentially referring to all types of Analysis and Criticism involved nowadays in music, but this album in particular as well.
Quick example - Enfold Darkness' debut album (I understand I did a review of this album, this is not my point) - Almost immediately after this album was put on the front page, people started calling it "The Faceless Glorification"....In which case - It doesnt even sound like it. Also, a good majority of people said that their music was good, but the vocals were unlistenable - So they wouldnt even give it a chance. (Being what I said about people finding 1 thing wrong with an album and it ultimately turning them off to it)....Thats pointless.
Dont deprive yourself of good music just because of 1 tiny little nuance.
This is almost as bad as that one Flyleaf fangirl rant.

This album shreds, however I respect your opinion. The drums on the track Akeldama destroy whole cities worth of children.

Thanks you all for your comments, both positive and negative.
@ Ocean:
As always, I appreciate your thoughts and comments. I don't think this is "a good listen" nor I think the album has "a few minor annoyances". The "too much analyzing" you suggest is precisely for stating why it is so. Sadly, we don't agree, but everything is OK.
@ This Life:
I don't really enjoy slagging bands off, so I didn't want a thorough review on how this album is bad. I think the points I made justify the 1.5 rating (what more do you need, really?), without being unnecessarily agressive.
@ Wizard:
I'm glad we agreed on this one.

Review totally reads like a 2.5, just sayin'. I couldn't disagree with you more on your points, but that's fine. Opinions differ. Still, if you're gonna' write a 1.5 review for an album, the thing better be one terrible piece of crap, not just mediocre. Still, the review isn't terribly written, which is what I expected when I saw the rating.

That album is about as bad as this too hahaha. Sorry Thor, I just don't get what these bands are grasping for. Songs or Wankery Dankery Poo?

I don't agree with the rating exactly, but the album is average at best. Review isn't that bad.

Neg'd.
And there is nothing wrong with catchy dm.

the review doesn't really read like a 1.5, more a 2 or 2.5. But it did sum up the album pretty nicely. I too think this is a terrible album. Pos'd.
PS: What's with all these negs? This review isn't so bad. It's pretty good.

breaking away from the album's monotony and lack of ideas. Guitarists Michael Keene and Steve Jones break loose on here and try some different ideas...Akeldama is incapable of developing its scarce musical ideas.
might consider taking a peek in a thesaurus, otherwise you same could easily be said of your writing
