First minute or so of Beached is absolutely sublime.

Captured is one of my favourites by them so far.

Docks + Beached is seriously one of the best Camel moments

2018 and I've now had this album for 37 years. If anything I enjoy it more now than ever. Wonderfully melodic, beautifully played with a story well told and moving

That's the beauty of music and time, I've come to appreciate albums I didn't pay much attention to earlier

Nice rating dude. The best for this album.

It's a nice surprise considering it comes after Rain Dances, Breathless, and I Can See which are all inferior to this one in my opinion

Starting this one now! Been really looking forward to this ever since I heard City Life, which is easily a top 10 Camel track for me rn.

I partially agree with you, pourradass. The only exception is Rain Dances, an album I like very much. In terms of quality, despite the clear differences, and especially that Nude is a concept work, I think it's the same. Nude is a great prog album of the 80's.

Okay, so... I'm gonna be honest: I think Breathless is better than this, but I'm also kind of torn in my assessment. I listened to this thing a whopping 10 times, and while I do love certain tracks and the album in general flows well from front to back with no glaringly bad spots, the highs aren't quite as high as Breathless's. City Life is an obvious jam, and Lies probably matches it, and that's about all there is in terms of vocals outside of Drafted and Please Come Home, with the former being decent and the latter being over in a minute. Idk; everything definitely feels like it belongs in the wider scope, yet nothing in isolation feels as essential as Echoes or The Sleeper. I'm also a fan of how bubbly and fun Breathless is on tracks like Down On The Farm and Wing And A Prayer. This album is very much about the vibe though, and it pulls it off pretty damn well. And Captured is an incredibly fun jazzy piece from them and one of my favourite instrumental tracks.

I keep my feelings. Rain Dances is at the same level as Nude, despite the clear musical differences between both and the differences of the year that both were released. Breathless is also a very good album but inferior to these other two.

Totally agreed, gyro. This is missing highlights, and i think the pacing is not too good

Right?! It's missing the big highlights past albums had. It's still excellent overall, but I wish it had at least 1 or 2 big tracks. Even their worst album (that I've heard so far), I Can See Your House, had Ice. Also, I totally forgot about this when I said this has no duds (because I removed it from my version of the album and forgot it existed haha), but Homecoming is just not good and easily bottom 3 Camel tracks. I wish I could say it works with the album, but it doesn't even really flow from Captured or lead into Lies. It's just this totally useless 3 min marching band track.

I agree with what you say about Ice. I Can See Your House From Here isn't a great album, but Ice is an excellent track. It isn't strange that Latimer chose that track in many of his live shows.
But, in my book, The Single Factor is weaker than I Can See Your House From Here. It's the weakest of all their albums, despite the fact that I like it too.

Ice seems like a standout "classic Camel" track on an otherwise more radio-friendly record; it's great, but within the context of the album, feels out of place.
I have no issues whatsoever with the flow on Nude.
