I agree!
even though the featured review for the record explains just as much as mine albeit repeating "technical riffing" a lot and has no negs because it's a 4/5, I agree!

I think people are expecting a little bit too much out of reviews on Sputnikmusic these days. What Dan says is true, had this been a higher rating such as a 4 or 4.5 then there would likely be little to no negs.

Pointing out the faults of others (real or imagined) doesn't excuse a badly written review.
And call me crazy but expecting a review on a review site doesn't strike me as expecting too much.

The trouble with the Maples (and they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the Oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the Oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the Maples
Can't be happy in their shade

You said yourself it's not lacking proper grammar, just attention to detail. My point was that if someone thoroughly enjoys something and someone has a divergent opinion of it then they are more likely to nitpick as much as possible. He stated that it sounds Juvenile and made comment on the vocals. I'm pretty sure most people on Sputnikmusic know what Converge sound like. It does seem a bit vague, but definitely not worthy of a neg, and grammatically it is well written.

"That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, we're ill about this position that we have been put in. Where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy. Um, helping, oh, it's got to be about job creation, too. Shoring up our economy, and getting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions, and tax relief for Americans, and trade -- we have got to see trade as opportunity, not as, uh, competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs created in the trade sector today. We've got to look at that as more opportunity. All of those things under the umbrella of job creation."
Meet word salad.
It's not just lacking attention to detail, the review is lacking review.

Context... mmmmmm

Album Rating: 4.5
How's this for context: A review site, where reviews are written. You kids need to stop appealing to 'but they did it too!' and 'you're picking on me' and actually address the fact that this is a terribly written review, in the sense of saying nearly nothing about the music. Or, you can go ahead and continue pointing out things that have nothing to do with the writing itself. I 'get' your point gyro, it's just so happens to be a useless one.

Explaining the sound of Converge is every bit as redundant as explaining the sound of The Beatles. I'm willing to bet 90% of users on this site have heard Converge. In my opinion you are being extremely nit picky, but I'd rather not fight about this.

Finally, someone with some balls. Even though I'm squirting all over the new Converge album, this doesn't excuse the band from the travesty that they once were.
As anyone who’s heard this before, The Saddest Day is one of Converge’s best songs. It follows no pattern, incorporates a few math-metal sections, and is ridiculously unrefined in terms of performance (possibly due to the high-treble production), but it doesn’t hurt it in any way aside from the poor clean vocals.
Bingo. Sums up the whole album actually.
It's not just lacking attention to detail, the review is lacking review.
I don't know, their really isn't much to this album tbqh. I don't know, opinions are a bitch regardless how much detail you put into them.

The writing is fine. He clearly explains why he doesn't like it. I mean, if I don't enjoy something, I tend to not write so much about because, well, it's just not worth the effort to go into minute details about everything. Broad strokes are just as good nit picking.

It has relevance to the sound; juvenile, math metal sections, unrefined performance, high treble production, poor clean vocals.
You said that it was well written and the problem is that the reviewer doesn't explain the sound well enough, and my point of explaining the sound being redundant is valid.

Don't take it from me, give it a chance. I just find this to be so unfocused and the production makes this a stinker. They are better off having the beefier production of latter albums.
