I wasn't a huge fan of this on the first listen, but it really deserves to be listened to again. Lots of solid tracks here

Wow Rudy, nice review, but I CAN'T DISAGREE MORE about "Dear God (sincerely M.O.F.)." It's so coooool, it's probably my favorite song here.

IHAVE TO BUY THIS!!!

I love how the first song sounds like The Flaming Lips covering Brian Eno. It doesn't fit in with the album at all, but whatever. I can see how some people wouldn't like it.
Anyways, this is really good, on my second listen. There's some fantastic lyrics.
Maybe they should get Sam Beam to come and open shows and jam on the tour? Haha.

I despise your opinion on the opening track...it's really a beautiful song. And the lyrics are heartbreaking. But we all are entitled to our own opinions, and you did well. Well you're a whole lot better at it than me hahahaha

yeah i think my biggest problem with the opening track is how it clashes with pretty much everything else on here. it just doesn't seem like a good fit

the first song fucking owns

I thought this was gonna be some sorta bad-beat album with all four musicians getting down, sadly it turned into something else after the first song.
Great album though.
I love beating my community college's parking lot down with my stereo to Dear God.

this album isn't bad at all. i'm not a big fan of folk but these guys are alright in my book

This is a very mature album. If you don't have a certain adult/experienced mindset or understanding of American music history, I'm not sure if it is for you.
But if you understand the intent of this album and all of the stylistic throwbacks, then you might be able to enjoy this.
I listen to CCR, Johnny Cash, Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, and other very rootsy folk artists like that, so I really dig this album.
But when they decided to name themselves and this album MONSTERS OF FOLK- they literally meant FOLK. Because this is the epitome of a folk album.

And i have no idea what you are talking about in regards to "Dear God"
I repeat what another poster said, I despise your opinion on that song, lol.
Probably one of the most moving songs I've heard in the last 10 years. It's absolutely amazing. And although it doesn't fit the album, it is indeed THEE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM. I'm so confident in that opinion that it is almost a fact.

"Three Billboards" reminded me that this album exists. Pretty good album, some songs are amazing, some songs are not.
