I've been really digging "Yellow Windows", but the atmosphere "The Incident" is so thick it's hard not to rock out to it

It's definitely a lot more mellow than the last few albums and a lot less easy to digest. I could see a lot of ratings being higher about six months from now.

idk some of their heaviest stuff is on here too (circle of manias)

Yeah, but it's not as prominent as on the last few albums, even if it is occasionally heavier than before.

a nice step up from their last album. the production is pretty sweet.

Steven Wilson seems rather dull

foabp is so stupid and pretentious.
I think you're latching onto the trend around here where it's just "oh so cool" to hate on concept records. Why does it matter if the album was pretentious? Isn't that what prog-rock is all about?
Album is immensely great.

Incident sounds sensational live. They're playing the whole disc for the first half of the set.

I think this is extremely good. I love PT. Ill give this 4.

Unsurprisingly, this is growing on me the more I listen to it. The meat of the album is a real 'journey'.
Its still a bit too industrialised for me though.

First disc is dissapointing compared to Deadwing and FOABP. Have yet to hear the second one.

He was ballparking it. Album doesn't impress me, I'll give it a 1.

I've yet to hear this but will pick it up ASAP. But I've been worrying that Steven Wilson has been stretching himself a bit thin nowadays with his other projects and responsibilities that perhaps his main gig isn't getting the attention and passion it requires. I'm willing to bet that if he put everything else on ice and focused solely on PT for a while, he'd be able to exceed In Absentia.

I'm having a hard time understanding why this album isn't being wanked over more. I mean, this is Wilson's most ambitious album and there isn't a single track that sounds like fill. This and In Absentia are pretty much all you need by this band.

the way I see it, the less people that enjoy it the more special the record is to those that do
