A 1? Really? I don't even like brutal/slam/whatever the fuck you wanna call this style of music, but I make an exception for Devourment.

"Another generic album made by a band so horrendous one can only conclude that their fan-base is composed of masochists."
Alright, I agree with half of that statement. I REALLY don't like this album. I fucking despise it, actually. But that's not going to make me generalize an entire group of people and call them all "masochists". That's really despicable, and is exactly what the music press did with artists and fans of these artists such as Eminem, Iron Maiden, Slayer, etc. I'm feeling a light to decent neg.

Months later, and this review is still absolute garbage. Worse than the album itself.

Personally I find Devourment make incredibly focused and well thought-out music. It's hilariously silly and brutal at the same time, and the way it seesaws between those mid tempo slam riffs and then explodes into outbursts of technicality make it all worthwhile for me. It's the ultimate give no fucks music. It shits in the face of most music that came before it. It's like they took a slice of bands like Suffocation and further refined it into something even more narrow.

Brutality at its best.
Honestly can't fault it. Love every track but Abomination Unseen is my favorite I'd have to say.
Its not the signature Devourment sound but goddamn its good.
