the guitar solos on this are so good in a kind of weird calculating way. it's full of hooky drum lines and stuff you normally don't get in death metal

Who gives a fuck about the intros. They're pretty easy to ignore when the songs are so enjoyable.
Yeah, the solos are awesome! In The Smell of Blood, I love how well the solo fits with the main rhythm under it. Good stuff.

the instrumentation has a bit more flair to it than most dm. not that it's super technical but its got little embelishments and synchronized bits that make it feel really alive on the better tracks
honestly in general this is probably the best arranged florida dm album by a fair bit it's just a bit dull in the second half and not very original

I still love this thing and really wish they did a follow up in the 90's tbh. I don't think I've bothered with the 2008 album though. The slower parts are actually my favorite here but I'm a sucker for slower mid paced death metal so that's a given
