i feel like his ambient stuff is so gorgeous and inspired and well produced (yet sorta antiquated but
in a good way) but all of the songs where he sings it feels like a dad is crooning boring melodies to
me with unfitting musical backgrounds idk. so awkward in a bad way

Best album of all time, some of these songs (in the style of "Little Fishes", "In Dark Dreams") paint amazing pictures. It's as if these are audible dreams, but unlike a wonderful dream, that you can just enjoy once praying that you hold on the memory, one can listen to this album again and again, appreciating the art more and more.

^this to the max. not "awkward" really.. just straight up repetitive, bland, and boring. ambient tracks are obviously beyond genius though, almost makes me want to 4.5.

The Big Ship, Another Green World, Everything Merges With the Night, and Spirts drifting are all super big highlights. Rest just feels like unnecessary pop with strange song structure and experimental filler. Probably missing a few but this album is the epitome of half and half.

I can understand a 5 in 1975 because a few tracks are waayyyyyy ahead of their time, but the rest definitely aren't when looking back today.

Agreed on the point that this was far ahead of its time. Fantastic album.
