Nope, I had somewhat elevated hopes for this album but it was really a let down.
August Burns Red have always been one of those bands that really pissed me off, they pretty much always fell into the Christian-scene-core category and to top it off they played some of the most boring second wave Metalcore available. So with that in mind I approached their newest album with a rather negative mindset.

I feel like your predisposition to dislike August Burns Red has really clouded your view on this. I feel like you came in saying "GOT I HAIT ABR THEY PISS ME OFF THIS IS GONNA SUCK!". At least, that's what you implied with that second quote. The review comes off as a review a fanboy would write, only opposite.
This is me balancing out the 5/5 storm that should appear as soon as fanboys realize they can rate this.

Spencer really isn't all that brilliant. He was good on Define the Great Line and Lost In the Sound of Separation...
He was dire on previous efforts.
Best metalcore vocalists for me are Jeff from Poison the Well, Bannon from Converge, Lambesis from As I Lay Dying and Sam Carter from Architects.

But saying that, Underoath are Christian. And they're quite preachy. Not saying their music is bad but yeah...
Preachers should just stfu tbh. I have nothing against religion but when every song relates to Jesus or the Lord almighty gets a bit boring.

Yeah i can see your frustration Redd. i still don't think you backed up your rating as objectively as you could have, but i can accept the fact that you have a different opinion. i'm not gonna neg the review just because of that. But unfortunately, there are many easily provoked people on Sputnik. Quite a hard crowd to please.
