"I think Howard has stronger cleans but Jesse's harsh vocals are better"
Agree with this which explains why I prefer this album over his other 2, more singing less screamo. As for jesse, his singing has remained consistently great since day 1 just not as good as Howard. His harsh vocals have always been better because they seem to have more passion and were at their peak in incarnate and disarm

I'm definitely in the minority but this album is one of my favorites from them. Probably because it's the second album I listened from them after AOJB, and it's the one I've listened to the most.

it's not one of their best but it's not as bad as the community makes it seem

I was wrong tho. I just listened to this and its worse than what I remembered. "A Light in a Darkened World", "The Reckoning", "The Return", "Starting Over", and the b-sides "In a Dead World" and "My Obsession" are all good songs but eveything else feels like Killswitch on autopilot.

^totally agree...KsE was one of my "first loves", and when this album dropped, I wasn't NEARLY as disappointed as what mass consensus would suggest haha

Yeah this thing certainly isn't as good as the albums before it, but it definitely got overhated. Howard kills it on this one. The Return is a top 10 KSE track

Album lacks heaviness and good dynamics due to the production. Some good songs and a few forgettable ones. Just not a great album.

So many tracks on this have like a really rocking first 30 seconds before slowing down into plodding, dirgey muck

you can hear longtime Pearl Jam producer Brenden in the direction this album had, with its twisty measures that exist only to be energetic and chaotic. it's not a terrible album, I love a few songs on this release but I absolutely see the overly-emotional angst this album had that didn't quite fit in with their rock solid timbre. imo it's a respectable album that last mains Howard on their vocal melody so I gotta give it respect.

Alright what’s the top couple songs on this record?
I’m going with the opener and the reckoning.

Never Again is the clear MVP on this one. I have a soft spot for Starting Over, Light and Reckoning, and Save Me is decent enough, but they’re all diminishing returns on previous outings.
