I must be the only one that didn't like this album.

the reissue/remaster/rerecorded version is so bad. It's like they wanted to beat you in the face with their "modern guitar" sound.

Johan takes some getting used to, but he brought so much more character to the band than Angela. Sometimes, yes, he sounded kinda bad. But I've become OK with that. Angela, on the other hand, was way more consistent but also always...sounded...exactly...the same.

And, most importantly, they just wrote way better music when Johan was around.

It's said that some of the material was written along with Steer but wasn't credited

"As we progress, we get to Cosmic Retribution, another rejuvenatingly ... God turned his back on man
fast song with a cardboard box full of memorable riffs. Guitar harmonies ..........In divine resignation
highlight a fast, low power chord progression that soundsdare I say.....Torn between two believes
menacing? Another screeching guitar solo is at hand, presumably played .....Eternal life or termination?
by one of the Amott brothers. The acoustic classical solo was an ..............- taken from Fields of Desolation
unexpected twist that made my day. The amps are cranked up full as
the brothers shred their asses of in a thing I like to refer to as pure metal mayhem."

When I treat this as a paradise lost-esque (because of the vocal style) dm album with sick riffs then this is actually pretty neato

Giving this another shot. I've honestly never really dug anything I've heard from this band but this time around I'm getting into a bit more than I have in the past. Still nothing blowing me away but it's solid enough
