'What the fuck is this'
One of those 'it's so bad it's good' albums and bands.

It was something
I listened to half of it and now I'm listening to Daughters again

Agreed, there are like 4 albums that just came out today alone that I have to jam
I love the new Daughters, though - highly recommended

About to see if this is still a 4.5 lol I remember thinking "It Ain't Gonna Suck Itself" was a masterpiece
LET'S BREAK, THE LAW, C'MON! LET'S DO IT! LET'S FUCKING BREAK, LET'S FUCKING BREAK, THE LAW!!

so what's the verdict combustion? did it stand the test of time
|
| |
I can say with nearly 1000% certainty that this has not withstood the test of time lmao
Loved it when I was in Jr High tho
|
| |
yeah you were right lol. few of the movie clip samples hit the nostalgia but probably won't listen to these guys again for another decade. i was even in the mood for mindless breakdowns but wasn't really doing anything for me

It was always a joke band with a gimmick, and I can see where discussing any of their albums seriously would get eye-rolls. But it's like discussing good and bad standup comedians; surely someone is doing comedy poorly and you know poor execution when it happens.
This album was the downside of their brief peak, and this is only their second album. It's like they did it just well enough on their first album to draw people in, and then decided "more samples" was the solution. There's a threshold of song vs sample that they crossed numerous times on this record to the point where it was uncomfortable. The 2-minute long sample from a movie where a woman gets buried alive is fun, but giving credit to the band for whatever you feel listening to that is a bit generous.
I dunno when you'd say they had "jumped the shark", but when they recorded a 60-minute death metal christmas album that features 200 Stewie Griffin samples, I'd put a pin it right about there.
