i love the musical technicality of this album, and i love the jazzy, dance-along-to parts of the album.
the vocals fit right into everything very well, which i felt wasn't that way in their s/t. totally solid album.
its hard to tell if i like this more than DBM, but it's likely...

It's OK, that song makes me feel awkward too.

Pretty much what I said in the review but well spoken. That's pretty much why I lowered my rating for the self titled.

Could you stay a lil' longer?

Album is really shallow in places, especially that trio of the Strawberry Swishers and Dave, which is god awful. I wish everything wasn't so drowned out by the vocals too.

I'm actually digging this a little. My scene kid friend has been trying to get me into them and both DBM and the s/t don't do anything for me. This has both better music and a lack of the horrible vocals and lyrics of Jon Mess.

Not only was the band going into their third full length sans another two members, but the band was heading into the studio a mere six months after the release of their self titled sophomore release,

I love this album. It's easily the band's best material. There is so much musical growth and successful experimentation on 'Happiness' and to me, my only complaint is that it's only 10 songs... I truly wish this record kept going.
I'd say my opinion is pretty unbiased because I use to not stand this band when they first started out, but since they replaced their original vocalist and tightened up their songs I've been hooked. The last album was great (and very fun), and this record is even slightly better.
Off topic, but does anyone know if this will be (or has been) pressed on vinyl?

None of their albums have been pressed on vinyl yet and I've heard no hints at this being pressed either.

Brilliant album. The beginning of "NASA" is so awesome.

"we can have some coffee, you can do my laundry" probably some of the cringiest lyrics I have come across.
They need to stop releasing albums every time they go to the toilet and spend some time producing a quality record

easily their best work yet. the only problem i had with them was mess's vocals and how much of them there were. Swan has a way better voice and doesn't use it too much.
really dig the new fun direction.

They have definitely gone backwards instead of progressing. This album has it's moments, but even the S/T is a step up from this. How people can say this is better than DBM is beyond me.
|
| |
yeah i also have no idea how they could say that.

I think this is great so far (got it today) Love the first song, it's all pretty good though. Don't know about a rating yet though.

ok people, move on, theres no craig, stop it, i give them more credit cuz of musical growning than vocal, DBM was more a vocal album and since s/t they got more technical, and better musically maybe cuz the lack of a great vocalist or maybe just because they are better musicians with time
