Antichrist Superstar and Holy Wood were Manson's highs but this may be his low

Eat me, Drink Me was his definite low, this is a step up, though not outstanding in any way. I should bump this down to a 3 at least on that note...

"Oh dude that fucking nine minute song or however long it went was TORTURE."

Though I was more optimistic with this album (my 4.5 is based on a custom edit of the album, I should really revise it to a 3.5 or a 3...), I agreed, so I got out audacity & cut the song down to about 5 1/2 minutes, with the pointless middle cut out. I managed to cut it at the right point, too, so it sounds pretty seamless.

The song still requires patience, but it's not as reatrdedly long & prevents a skip from the playlist ocassionally. I did the same thing with the acoustic version of Scar (which sounded less radio cheesy compared to the electric version) & cut out some repetitive chrouses & verses, so it's around 3 mins vs. 4.

IMO, they seemed to have skippped the editing process after composing the songs for this album (very evident in the 9 min of IWTKULTDITM, lol, but also elsewhere with unkillable monster w/ its generic chords, & we're from america with an un-needed chrous & verse, and the tracklisting is frankly a disaster with an erratic pacing between slower acoustic tracks & electric tracks), but it's still considerably better than the last album.

^ Did you know I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies was supposed to be 25 minutes long, but they cut it to 9 to be able to fit it on one disc.

4.5 based on a CUSTOM EDIT?

wtf is that? i could make any album a 4.5 outta 5 if i just listened to the parts that were good, and strung them together.

bands are supposed to edit their shit so you don't have to. trent reznor needs to produce this band again. he is the only man who can save them

Holy Wood was good too, and that was produced by Manson and Dave Sardy. It's not a matter of who produces it, it's just a matter of whether or not Manson ever decides to put real emotion in his music again.

Listened to it a couple times. Pretty good. Definitely a step up from GAOG and EMDM.

This review... I strongly disagree with it. I used to love Manson, this album has changed that.
