"So I went out, got it, listened to it a few times, and now I’m ready to present my own take on it."
How'd you willy nilly go out and buy a physical copy when it doesn't release until 4 days after this review was posted.

"mixed reactions to this album. Majority seems to be below average mind"
It's very interesting. Sputnik seems to hate it, but everywhere else I've read have praised the album. I'm not having a go at sputnik but I think people are picking it apart like vultures. It's just a fun catchy album, nothing more.

Billy Armstrong isn't smart enough to come off as pretentious. The more i listen to him, the more i'm convinced that the video to basketcase took precisely no acting. This Message Edited On 05.13.09

i've never really listened to Green Day before, aside from a few songs like Basketcase, Good Riddance and some of the songs from American Idiot, which i found a little too poppish for my tastes. and when i listened to the lead single for this album, Know Your Enemy, it certainly made me almost drop the idea of even trying to force myself to listen to this album. i'm not quite sure what compelled me to buy it, but i'm going to say that i'm definitely glad that i did.
i've heard many people say that this "isn't Green Day" and that the lyrics and music are terrible. well, i honestly don't give a shit if that's what others say. the title track wreaked of classic rock, and i loved it because of it. Know Your Enemy was repetitive, but the lyrics made sense the more i churned them through, and i ended up liking it because of it. Last Night On Earth sounded like it could have been from a Beatles' album, and i enjoyed every second of it's euphoric sound. the best track by far, 21 Guns, was so emotional, both lyrically and musically, that it nearly brought me to tears.
i don't know what the hell Green Day is supposed to sound like or why a great many people say this album sucks, and i don't really much care to know. i enjoyed the album greatly, and that's what matters to me. a 4.5 in my opinion.

i enjoyed this review. nice job and obviously unbiased. i think its important when reviewing to get out of your own way and review the music for what it is. this write up does that. sweet

I'm new to this, so sorry this is so late in coming...excellent review. I would write one in response to the negative people, but I don't have to...you've written a great masterpiece.

I wish I could re-write this review. It reads immature and fanboyish, and has gross overstatements and exaggerations. Plus my opinion on this (and other) GD albums has changed considerably.

The album is not nearly as bad as people say it is but idk about a 4, but good review.
