Not bad, but definitely nothing special. Some parts I liked (the first few minutes of the third track for example), but then a lot of of it was just bland and certain sections really intolerable (the slower section in the third track for example).

Agreed. This wore off on me quickly. I let the Decible hype train get to my head, never again.

that's probably the only annoying part of the album for me, the rest is sweet though

Lets be honest for a second. This album is an amalgamation of everything you've heard before within the doom/ post-metal/ black metal genres (and done better for that matter). Still a decent listen but I completely agree with rasputin on this one.

Just wanted to say that the melody in 'Gentian Truth' sounds EXACTLY like Agalloch's 'Fire Above, Ice Below' (listen to the Agalloch song between 3:32 - 4:00). Scary! This Message Edited On 05.19.09

You need to listen to more post-metal/ black metal to realize this album is nothing more than 'good'.This Message Edited On 05.19.09

I am not hearing the awesome Black Metal on the first two tracks. However, like Rasputin, I really enjoyed the first few minutes of the third track. It was all very enjoyable although I find most of the time, it was too simply constructed and repititious to a point where it drags. I probably enjoyed it more than a 3, but I think to myself "my band could have done this"

What;s ridiculous about this band is that they've barely been togetehr for two years and yet already secured a record deal, and opened for WITTR and Mayhem. As a debut it's pretty good but flawed. Id like to see how they expand when they've been around for awhile.

they won't get any better

The potential is there as long as magazines stop with all the fucking hyperbole.

I don't know, I can really hear something good happening here. They will improve.

What hyperbole? Decible gave this 7/10 and pretty much said the same thing you did. Potential!

Album was pretty good. They waste way too much time for me though. I don't have a problem with a little atmosphere but damn, they just drag too much sometimes. Alot of it sounded exactly like riffs wolves in the throne room used. It was still a pretty damn good album though.
