In Utero is by far the best Nirvana album, and probably the only Nirvana album that I enjoy. Nirvana is possibly the most overated rock band of all time. While they had some catchy songs their music isn't that great.

I realize that Nirvana did some great things for music, but whenever I listen to Nevermind the album is extremely weak and dull.
I hate a couple of Sonic Youth albums/songs. You don't have to LOVE EVERYTHING by a band to be a "true" fan.
I hate that one album by Godspeed You! Black Emperor (which shall remain nameless), but I'm a fairly large fan of their's. The problem is that it's devoid of what makes them what they are.

Now, all that rambling has a point. It's that that nameless album is different and devoid of what makes GY!BE "GY!BE." I see it the same way with Nirvana and Nevermind. Sure, it's a good album, but it's not exactly "Nirvana."

I always felt this album fit in very well with anything they had done. The only drawback was how polished this album was, since their other stuff benefitted from that somewhat raw feel. Still good though.
Sure, it's their biggest, but it isn't their best. It's often loved more than life by people claiming to be true Nirvana fans, who in reality know nothing but Nevermind. Then there are those who love this, but can't stand In Utero because it's not catchy enough or other some such.
I disagree. I own all of Nirvana's studio recordings, and still find Nevermind to be their best work. Bleach is solid all the way through, and I enjoy turning up the stereo and rocking out to it, but the songwritting is clearly on a lower level than Nevermind or In Utero. Even though In Utero has alot of great songs, there are a few holes, such as "Milk It", and "Tourrettes". Yes I know songs like this were made in an effort to deviate from the poppy sound of Nevermind, but still... Nevermind offers good song after good song, to form a solid rock album.

Meh...that about covers this one...

Groundbreaking, yes, as it brought an end to the BS that was 80's hair metal, but when you look at it now, its nothing special. Decent songs, average guitar work, depressing lyrics.

Wait a minute, are we talking about Staind or Nirvana here? JK

For all those people out there who hate, or claim to hate, nirvana, I have somthing i want to tell you. Kurt Cobain agree's with you. Now for myself I love nirvana, they were the band that first got me into music. Anyway Kurt thought the sound of his music was terrible, he wanted to more of a punk kind of band then anything. When this sound came out he was none too happy, but he went with it. Any way, as far as the reveiw goes, not to bad man.

BTW as far as there influnce goes, there songs are easy to play, and it sounds preety good. As a band, the thing you need most to make good music is confidence. What gives you more confidence then being able to play a cool song, completly, and good?
