shit... you're right.

this isn't nearly as awesome as it was 2 months ago...

FUCK! man I hate you now! you like, took away one of my favorite bands! I can hardly imagine giving this more than a four now!

Sigh, I guess every metalhead must reach a point where he realizes that CoB are not the greatest band that ever lived...

Brilliant album in my opinion. I know what you mean in the review about the songs sounding too similar, but I don't find it as much of a deterrent to enjoying the album. A lot of the gripes you seem to have are because of the power metal influences strewn all throughout the songs.

no, it's mainly because the songwriting is absolutely terrible.

unless you count shitty songwriting as power metal influence. Because if anything, I hate the extreme metal influence from Laiho's vocals.

I love his vocals. To each their own.

I like the songwriting, it's exactly like it needs to be for a band like this - catchy, powerful, heavy... also allowing each member of the band to jack off all their instruments every now and then. Except the drummer, he's just another generic Finnish musician.

it's all right in small doses, but it conveys no emotional or real power, it just shows off members skills and "chops".

bastard it's worth at least a 3 the songs do make sense and it's not exactly an album which really struggles to flow it just basically get's really tiresome after the first couple of tracks

well include the fact i hate the vocalist and I get 2.5, which ironically, was my rating after all! This Message Edited On 12.20.08

"Follow The Reaper is great for a guitarist or a power metal keyboardist, but not anybody else"

This is the most ridiculous closing statement I've ever read in a review which took itself seriously.

It leads me to believe that if you close like this -- so obviously misled -- why should I take anything else you've said at face value?

I'm especially confused after reading your Hybrid Theory review, which criticizes Linkin Park for being too predictable in the formula they use in their song crafting.

well, they're both fairly predictable, and both have rather poor songwriting chops.

I guess you could say this is okay if you want to get into metal and need something kinda catchy. This Message Edited On 12.20.08

First of all, what the hell does that have to do with anything in this review? Secondly, there is nothing confusing about that statement seeing as it's perfect truth.

Oh Maxy, you opportunist you. Way to spot a prior review from someone else that got loads of attention and then take the same band and carve out what is a really good review. Good work and I can't even point out a load of grammatical mistakes... Although that 3rd sentence reads really strangely.

I missed this review, but this is a great review. I see where you are coming from with most of your points, but I disagree, I still like CoB :thumb:
