As an entire album this is as near to perfection as a humanoid should aspire. One blip...the cover; "It ain't easy"; always skipped it on vinyl (quick, run over, open the box, lift the needle..careful...) and always skip it now (push).

What to say? It opened up an entire new chasm between the generations, rather as Elvis had done in the 50s; it changed England as much as Punk did in 76/77; and play it now it still sounds fresh and clean. His voice is better on this album than anywhere else (and that is saying something), and Ronson's guitar is a wonderful thing...not heavy...just rock, rock, rock. That tension, twixt Bowie's surreal English tweeness and the tight sound of the spiders, is what makes the album so strong. That plus the genuinely moving moments on Five Years, Lady Stardust, and Rock n Roll Suicide. This album had it all. Without it..no punk, no New Romantics, no Queen, no Lady Gaga, no Prince (yes indeedy folks), no Kate Bush etc etc etc..
