But they were going for unpredictability, and it obviously worked.
what, in the vocals? More like they were going for unpredictashittily.

How is this unique at all? Most of it sounds like Underoath with some melodic stuff thrown in. yeah bro

It's well-written melodic stuff. Not just "thrown in" or whatever.

I'm probably the only user who hasn't heard this album yet on this site.
You just found the other one.
Why do I keep hearing so much about this album? Is it THAT good?

eh... the openers are melodic but most of it is just palm muted chug riffs that are almost as boring as Meshuggah.

As boring as Meshuggah? You obviously don't understand their music at all, can you play advanced polyrhythms on guitars or drums and then combine this seperate polyrhythms to create a good song or album? No you can't. Can you combine over eight different genres of music to create a good album, no you can't.
Listen to an album correctly before you judge it.

Technical skill does not equal good music.
Granted, I like Meshuggah.

That's true, but I can't understand how you think BTBAM is incorrectly using technicality. There's so much thought put into each of these songs. It flows perfectly in my mind.

But still he tried to say Meshuggah is boring, which is stupid, because their just complex in their style.

meshuggah is boring complexity

Meshuggah is awesome complexity, and BTBAM still blows them out of the water though.
|

Silverfang, you're an idiot. Technicality and complexity has nothing to do with good music.

Sure it helps at times, but then you have bands like Psyopus and Behold the Arctopus which totally suck ass.

You also have to appreciate the fact that while Meshuggah songs are long and seem repetitive, the musicians themselves execute them perfectly throughout. Not an easy task.

Thats what I'm trying to say, I'm not saying Meshuggah's music is brilliant, but I enjoy listening to them because their so talented.

You just gotta force yourself to listen to them, I hated them at first, but then I listened more carefully and I got into them. My friend Kratzer (whos a guitarist) played Combustion on his guitar, and I was amazed at how hard it was to play.
