Oh I actually really enjoy The Inherited Repression. Tracks 3, 4 and 5 rule with Unmasking the Traitors being the strongest. I prefer that album to anything else after Scepters.

Inherited Repression was a ton of fun and I don't even think they have a bad album per se, but I dunno man their first three are on a different level from their other stuff.

Ooof. Vocals are awful. For some reason they’re pulling my attention to the insanely clicky bass-drum too. Sad

First time jam for this LP
Indeed, Slaves Of Nil is great
Vox, on the album as a whole, is really average, imo.

Yeah sadly he doesn't quite kill it on the mic like Chalky did. Big shoes to fill and Chalky is honestly one of my favorite death metal vocalists. This is the new vocalists worst performance with them imo. Thankfully they still kill it here instrumentally. The vocalist got better imo while time went on but he still pales in comparison to the Chalkman. Their best album with him is S/T imo

Chalky was an absolute monster. Scepter is by far their best imo, it's not even close.
But Symbols of Failure and now As The Kingdom Drowns are also both pretty great.

production and vocals here are so bad

There are three vocal styles present on this album, and the mid range sort of shouted vocals are not very good. The deep growls, and the highs are awesome. The deep growls are actually quite fantastic. The midrange vocals are actually only mediocre when the note is drawn out which isn't found too often here.
Both Haleys just kill it on this record. Absolutely love the lead playing here and the drums are so groovy. The crash cymbals sound sexy on Calculated Effort

peppiatt really isn't a bad vocalist he just has the unfortunate circumstance of following chalkie so hes forever hated. he's definitely not a typical dm vocalist at all which for me is welcomed

Certainly not typical and even if you had really typical death metal vocals on this it you would still be able to appreciate the musicianship. I find Inherited Repression better than this though, especially on the vocals, although there is less vocal variety on TIR
