I can't believe people can honestly disrespect AC/DC so much. I admit their albums are all similar but experimentation is not the point. Simply put, the point is to rock out and have fun. If every band went down the Tool/Mars Volta/Isis route music would get boring fast, despite the creativity.
Black Ice is 3 or 4 songs too long, otherwise its AC/DC at their rockin' best. They invented their brand of rock and deserve props for that. They shouldn't be disrespected for sticking to it. Back In Black has sold an estimated 42 million and counting - not bad for what most of you call a S*** band.

They are an album band, not a singles band.
.really?

That's not the point at all.
| | | yea ill respect AC/DC with there fame and all that stuff, but ehh this cd is just boring, uninteresting, and very not stand outish at all. Theres only so many times this band can flip flop the same chord progression and similar vocal patterns and make a new album. As for the dude with the neighbor problem^^^ just buy every Nile cd ever made and just blast them as loud as you can. If that doesnt solve the problem. Idk light his house on fire or something hahahha
| | | Dwap - I think you're missing the fact that alot of people rated Anberlin's new album really really high. Thats not prog.
And yeah, I'll admit AC/DC are good live. But seriously, keep it live. No singles/CDs.

Reviewing this album actually made me go watch Live at Donnington. All was forgiven.

"No singles/CDs."
Try playing a live show without any songs. See how far you get. This Message Edited On 10.22.08

I've done it
| | | They have plenty of songs to choose from if they are going to play live. Don't act like this is their first cd, though it might as well be.

ultimate-guitar reviews are always a hilarious read, every single review for this out of the six there is 9/10 or 10/10, plus a thousand comments of bitching about how this is the album of the year
| | | Album Rating: 4.0 | Sound Off
^^ It's always funny reading the comments here too. LOTS of the people here don't know what constructive criticism is. This album deserves a fair chance. It may not be 9/10 or 10/10 but, I don't care who's opinion it is, this album far surpasses the expectations for ANY album around the rating of 1/5 and 2/5. Most of the attacks on the album are simply based on the fact that it's AC/DC. And it would be a very good candidate for the album of the year...it rocks hard, and it has probably been the most anticipated.
Another thing I don't get is that people are saying the whole thing sounds the same and that there are no stand-out tracks "at all"; "Anything Goes" kind of sounds like something from Nazareth and Big Country, and the other funny thing is that Angus' rhythm pattern sounds like a part of God Save the Queen by the Pistols, "Stormy May Day" reminds me a lot of "In My Time Of Dying" by Led Zeppelin, etc.
No variation? You've got to be kidding me. And as a guitar player, they are playing some chords unfamiliar to the average AC/DC song...just sayin' since that also seems to be said every time this band is mentioned, haha.

Looks like they're showing everyone who's boss.
Besides the States, "Black Ice is also scoring huge sales figures around the world. In Germany, the album is trending No. 1, with a shot at 250,000. In the UK, it's on track for 120-140,000 and headed for No. 1. The band is also racking up record numbers and will go No. 1 in Canada, France, Italy, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Norway and Portugal."
And I'm pretty sure Sweden will be added to that list shortly.
AC/DC have put Rock 'n Roll back on the map!

And apparently, these days, underrated.
"It was always THERE, moron."
Smart ass.

...double LOL!
| | | I don't understand why people say that you need to respect AC/DC, like they've really given a lot to the world of music. They didn't bring anything new to the table. Both Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath had been around for 4-5 years before AC/DC was formed. Sure, they've made some catchy songs. What does that matter, though? Britney Spears made catchy songs, but I don't respect her as a musician. At least she actually experimented with her style, though.
"For those about to listen to boing music, we salute you!"
| | | saying ac/dc is an 'album' band is total bull. You could throw together ten ac/dc songs onto a mix CD and it would be indistinguishable from an actual album. They should just put there music on itunes so my trn yr old cousin who doesnt know what CDs are can get to it. What, are they afraid of losing money? The're rolling in cash already.
